Dinosaur!

This is one of my favorite attractions, up there in the top 5, right behind Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror. It's so much fun! What's better than going back in time to bring back a dinosaur for scientific research?

Dinosaur is found at Animal Kingdom in Dinoland. Kids love Dinoland, mostly because kids love dinosaurs. But beware, Dinosaur is scary! I have seen more kids exiting this ride with tears streaming down their face than any other ride in all four parks ("It's Tough To Be A Bug" runs a close second).

It's not the rough terrain you experience as you travel back in time. It's the dinos you encounter once you're there. These babies are big, big, BIG, and they are loud. The ride is almost completely dark, and some of these dinosaurs are hiding in the bush, waiting to jump out and eat you. The first time I came face to face with the Carnotaurus, he scared the bejesus out of me, too. I didn't leave completely traumatized, because I went right back over to the entrance to ride it again.

And while I'd absolutely recommend this adventure to anyone, it does come with a warning. Prepare your children for dinosaur ahead of time. Let them know that the ride is fast, dark, and there are very large dinosaurs who make loud dinosaur noises. Make sure they know it's all pretend. Get ready to have your photo snapped, and make sure you enjoy the exhibits provided by the Dino Institute while waiting in the queue.
